Winnsboro Bible

OUR ESSENTIAL BELIEFS

1.  We believe that the Bible is the verbally inspired Word of God and without mistakes in the original languages.

Reference: https://defendinginerrancy.com/chicago-statements/

2.  We believe in one God, Creator of all things, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, sovereign over all things.

3.  We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ; His virgin birth, sinless life, His miracles, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection; ascension and return.

4.  We believe the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins and that all who believe in Him are sealed by the Holy Spirit and imputed with His righteousness, saved by grace through faith unto good works. (We generally hold to a Reformed understanding of salvation close to Luther's position but this is not essential)

5.  We believe in the present ministry and gifts of the Holy Spirit indwelling all believers and empowering for ministry and the Christian life. (We generally keep an open posture regarding gifts of the Spirit being operational but this is not essential)

6.  We believe in the bodily resurrection of everyone who has ever lived; The righteous forever with Christ and the unrighteous in Hell.

7) We believe in the Second Advent, the return of the Lord Jesus Christ in glory and power.  (We generally hold to a Pre-Millennial, Pre-Wrath Rapture framework but this is not essential)

8. We believe God created all things including man, woman, and marriage, defined as a life-long covenant between one man and one woman.

9. God created Eve from Adam's rib as his equal and fellow both given orders to rule and to multiply, yet there is a loving order, (Complimentary) each with roles and responsibilities that are marred by the Fall, yet God redeems in Christ.

10. We believe two Sacraments or Ordinances of the Local Church: 1)  Baptism; By immersion for the Believer.  We also believe in covenant family memberships and family participatory worship: "As for me and my house, we shall serve the Lord." 2)  Holy Communion of the Saints as often as possible for Believers only..

Winnsboro Bible DISTINCTIVES:

1) Fervent love for the brethren: This is explicitly commanded by our Lord and re-emphasized by Paul and Peter. This explicitly includes showing hospitality, discipleship, fellowship, and ministries of grace.

2) Kingdom Alignment: Kingdom alignment and order is essential if God is to bless our lives, our families and churches.  We commit to align our lives, our priorities as Believers, as parents, as children, as employees and employers, as spouses to God's Kingdom ordering of those priorities as outlined in Scripture. Like the times of the Men of Issachar   (1 Chron 12:32) we welcome those with an "understanding of the times and what Israel should do".

3) Family participatory studies: Children should learn alongside Dad and Mom in Bible Studies and in church.

4) Building, strengthening, and healing Kingdom Marriages and families: Jesus is still in the resurrection business healing people, marriages, and families broken by sin and sinful systems of this world. We minister through Scripture, prayer, and the power of the Holy Spirit

5) Strengthening the Church. Our mission is to live by grace in faith in Jesus, with repentance and obedience and humility in order to grow in our sanctification and maturity. In the Spirit, in God's power and not our own, we build the Kingdom of Christ by our focus on discipleship within the church feeding on the Word of God and evangelism without, sharing the Gospel in Scripture without, thus fulfilling the Great Commission given by our Lord. (Matthew 28:16-20).

Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!” The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. Selah"  - Psalm 46:10-11
